1084-1087 Tel Zayit inscription and excavation

The oldest known Hebrew inscription was discovered just two years ago, at an excavation at Tel Zayit. We talked with archaeologist Ron Tappy, of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, shortly after the discovery was announced. Now we have an opportunity for a more in-depth discussion about this fascinating site on the border between Philistine Gath and Judahite Lachish. This discussion takes place just as Professor Tappy is preparing to return to Zayit for more excavations during the 2007 dig season.

In the meantime, some really big news has hit the internet, the discovery of Herod's tomb. Most major news wires and networks have reports. Haaretz has a good report, and the news release as at the Hebrew University website. We'll have additional coverage in upcoming programs.
