Recent reports from archaeology around the Sea of Galilee is discussed in this week's program. The first report is of the imprint of a Roman legionnaire's sandal found this summer at Hippos/Sussita, one of the decapolis cities overlooking the eastern shore of the Sea of Galilee. This is an extremely rare discovery. The only other Legionnaire's footprint was found at the opposite end of the British empire, at Hadrian's wall in Britain.
On the other side of the Sea of Galilee, there's a report of the remains of a Byzantine church found at Tiberias. And then we discuss a report of planned resumption of excavations at Magdala, the home town of Mary Magdalene.
